Project Life 2014 | Week 8

Week 8. I used a lot of pink and turquoise this week. I used Design K (back side of Week 7) and Design S.

Here is the left side. I spent some time outside enjoying the February sunshine. I also worked on a fun, random DIY project for the wall.

I had fun making this date card. I used a mix of embellishments I had on my desk at all times.

I used my Hot Mess stamp to caption this craft-project-in-progress photo. I'd like to think there's a method to my madness when I'm making stuff, but this project was not the case. I totally winged it.

Here is the right size – a mix of photos from the week. 

I took a photo of some of our little messes around the apartment and figured I should put it in the album. I usually try to make things look neat and tidy when taking photos. I did just the opposite here to capture some real-ness.

Oh! And this was the week I bought my new bike! The "New" card is from my 'Jumpstart' Printable set. I used some big, bold letters from Fancy Pants in the open white space. 

That's my week 8! I am sending a big photo order to Walgreens today so hopefully I can do some catching up this week.

Project Life 2014 | Week 7

Another colorful week is done in my album. It was a random week – they all seem to be these days – so I just chose a bunch of colors and photos I liked and tried to make them work together.

I used Design C (back side of week 6) and a new one, Design K. I do not love Design K. I thought I would, but I found it really difficult to work with.

I included some photos of my new stamp storage. It's a letterpress drawer that I picked up at Uncommon Objects here in Austin. I also included a photo about my Texas Key Holder... still love that thing.  

I think Design K works if everything on the page is one topic. Maybe it's just me but, as mentioned above, I found this layout difficult to work with. I did my best and am happy with how it turned out. I think the asymmetry was throwing me off. 

We went house hunting this week. It was more for information purposes, rather than looking for houses to actually buy. It was a good, long day.

I included photos from our Food Truck Date in this week's spread. I already had a few in our Austin Bucket List minibook but don't mind repeats.

Slowly but surely getting up to day. I have a big photo order ready to send to Walgreens. I've been printing my photos there ever since I fell behind. I don't love the super glossy-ness of the photos but the convenience factor trumps it.

Paper Bakery Project!

Project Life 2014 | Week 6

Week 6! I spent most of my week in Chicago. It was cold and busy so I didn't have too many great photos. I struggled putting this week together. Not sure why, maybe the lack of photos, but it took me several attempts to finish this week up. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

This week, I'm using Design S (back side of week 5) and Design C.

Here is the left side. Since I spent so much time on this spread, I also spent a ton of time digging through my stash. I was probably hoping it would spark some inspiration but not so much. That being said, I found a bunch of cool stuff and tried to use it this week.

I've been wanting to go to this pizza place for several weeks now. We decided to try it out before I spent a week in Chicago. It was super good and now I want to go back. I love when restuarants have cool stickers or cards for me to take home. 

I took this photo of my closet while I was packing and used my Hot Mess stamp. Truth be told, my closet has been much messier before but didn't want to miss an opportunity to use my one of favorite stamps.

The orange/coral pattern on the right is from my Sugar Rush printable set. It says 'It's a Beautiful Life.' but I decided to cover that up in this case to create a custom journaling card. I like to get as much use out of things as possible. 

I always save my plane ticket stubs but don't always use them. In this case, I needed "stuff" so here it is. The 'Let's Fly Away' is from this Dear Lizzy roller phrase stamp and is pretty perfect here.

Here is the right side and more randomness. Design C is a really good one to use if you're running low on photos.

I never thought I'd miss public transportation so much! It was soooooooo (ooooooooo) cold when I was in Chicago so I tried to spend as little time outside as possible. 

I have, like, a million labels in a mini loaf tin on my desk. I used a bunch here to journal about my night out in a different format.

I was happy to be done with this spread and move on. The others since have come together much easier for me.

Project Life 2014 | Week 5

Week 5! It was a busy week for us. Billy started his tennis season and I was knee deep in getting my stamps launched. It's funny how the busiest weeks usually have the least amount of photos. Does that happen to you too?

Still mixing up my pocket styles - I used Design D on the left (the back side of week 4) and Design S on the right. 

Here is the left side. I can't seem to get enough yellow these days. I noticed a trend of pinks and reds in my photos so I added in some pops here and there to make it all flow together. As always, I added some gray, kraft and gold too.  

When I originally I created this date card it seemed a little too bare for my liking. Especially compared to the embellished details all over the rest of the spread. I used a bunch of my stamps and this silver inkpad to create a background pattern. I think it adds just enough detail without being too overpowering. (Minimalism is so not my thing.)

Like I said, it was a busy week but I didn't have too many photos so I made this list of highlights from the week. I have a few sheets of this Dear Lizzy striped paper and love it for journaling in Project Life.

Austin now has In & Out Burger! This was a big deal for us. We celebrated Billy's first tennis match (and win!) with some double cheeseburgers. So delicious.

Here is the right side. Design S is becoming one of my favorite page styles. I'm so glad I decided to mix it up this year.

I wanted to this side to focus mostly on Billy/Billy's tennis match, but didn't have enough photos so... more stamps! 

The tennis racket card on the left here is from the Project Life Tennis Themed Mini Kit. I bought it as soon as I knew Billy got his coaching job. The 'You are Awesome!' stamp on the right is from my shop. Again, more yellow details which (bonus!) is one of Billy's school colors. 

That's our week. Yesterday I photographed four weeks of Project Life spreads so I'll be sharing those over the next couple weeks. A few products are linked above, but please feel free to ask any questions in the comments!

Project Life 2014 | Week 4

I'm hoping to get back on track with regular posting this week. Things have been a little busy for me and there just aren't enough hours in the day. 

Here is week 4 of my Project Life. I had these photos sitting on my camera for a while. I'm still going strong mixing page styles, this week is Design F (backside of week 3) and Design D. 

This is the left side. This biggest thing this week was launching my stamps. All my photos this week were iPhone photos and are a pretty random roundup of the week.

Here is the right side. The weather was crazy this week in Austin. It was snowing one day and then 80 degrees two days later. I can't keep up. 

After the Great Snow on Friday, we took full advantage of the nice weather on Saturday and Sunday. It was a good week. The heart circle and the Amazing stamp are from my shop!

Project Life 2014 | Week 3

Week 3! I'm enjoying mixing up the pocket styles. This week I used Design A (back side of week 2) and Design F. 3x4" pockets are my favorite. I'm still keeping things colorful and trying my best to capture pieces of our life in Austin. I'm already excited to look back on this album.

Here is the left side. I had collected a lot of pictures for this post, so I used them throughout the week. Those leopard print slippers are from high school and have holes in them. They probably won't last too much longer so I decided to include a photo of them in my book.

This year, I'm also trying to use more stamps. Both the ones I already have, and all the stamps I recently designed. I haven't really ventured out into using colored inks yet. I just use black StazOn ink. That way I only have to decide what stamp to use, not what stamp and what color. I also don't have to clean my stamps after I use them!

This was an instragram photo from "workspace wednesday". It wasn't a very good photo, we have the worst overhead lighting in the dining room that turns everything yellow. I converted it to black and white in Afterlight and then threw a filter on it. Much better. I love the pink letters on the black and white too!

Here's the right side. Design F is my favorite page style. I have sooo many 3x4" cards so it's a really good layout to get them used up.

I didn't even think about it when I was doing it, but I wrote our grocery list on a 4x6" grid card. (Those are the cards I used, but $8.99 seems pricey?) Since I had so many pockets this week, I decided to use it in my album. I clipped the receipt to the empty side with a blue arrow clip. The papers were just scraps that I stuck on there to add some color.

 

I found this graffiti near our apartment in Austin. A couple of weeks ago it was something different. I'm sort of hoping that it will keep changing. The coffee cup on the right is from my January printable set. I'm working on the February designs, hoping to launch soon!

I stole the photo on the left from Annette! We had a Project Life party at Archiver's. It was super fun. I'm sad to see the store go.

The right pocket is trimmed down from a 12-pack of Shiner Bock. I liked the colors and it's my favorite beer right now.

More packaging saved. The Trader Joe's tag in the shape of Texas is probably my favorite thing ever. I LOVE Trader Joe's. There isn't one near me (yet!) in Austin, so sad. We were in San Antonio one day and I noticed a TJ's. I bought a reusable bag there and this tag was on it. Saved for sure. 

Next to that is from a box of Cherry Larabars. I decided to just buy a whole box of them because I was buying them so often. They're delicious.

Project Life 2014 | Week 2

Week 2. Colors! That's the first thing that came to my head when I uploaded the photo. I love playing with color in my pages. While I admire people who can be simple with theirs, color and pattern mixing is so much more fun for me. 

I'm still mixing up my page protectors and liking it. This week I used Design E (backside of week1) and Design A. 

Here is the left side. Sort of all over the place but I feel like the lime green details here and there help bring it together. 

I used one of my printables for the date tab and that Monday label seen in the other photo. I'm kind of obsessed with the washi tape in the SC Blue Note kit.

I enlarged a photo of our taco lunch to 6x6". It was the only photo I felt was good enough to enlarge. That 'hello' is one of my new stamps. Love it.

Here is the right side. I'm used to working with Design A, so this side came together a little easier.

I have been using my stash of Project Life cards. I rearranged things on my desk so they are more available to use. I also cut down the number of cards I have on my desk to about half. The other half is in a box on my shelf. 

I love the card on the right with the pinwheel. It looks really fun with the circle sticker in the middle. I think I need to design a couple of those for myself. Also, PSA to donate blood if you can! It doesn't hurt at all and you get free snacks after. 

I like this picture because I documented 2 favorite things - crafting and my favorite shirt. I wrote on the photo with this silver gel pen. It's awesome.

Since we've been in Austin, I've noticed the most amazing neon signs. I mean, how awesome is this sign? This is my other favorite. I wanted to write a little journaling about the sign/our dinner but didn't want to overshadow the neon sign. I decided to write around the edge of the photo with my white gel pen and love it. I need to do that more often.
