Week 2! Back to our normal life. I tried to include pops of yellow to tie all the randomness together this week.
Here is the left side. Big event of the week was my new camera!
I used this totally typical self portrait as the date card for the week. The Studio Calico January kit included a roll of cute camera washi tape. I obviously had to use a little strip of that.
There was also some not-so-fun stuff that happened this week. I wrote that on the inside of this 'Hello Real Life' card. I wanted to include it in our album but didn't really want it front & center so I taped 2 Becky Higgins grid cards together and made the outside cute. On the surface, it also works because we got back to our normal 'real life' routine this week.
This pretty much sums up my state of mind these days. I'm a crazy craft lady. I organized my washi tape collection by color earlier this week. Behind the photo, I wrapped strips of washi tape around a piece of white cardstock. It seemed fitting.
The yellow card is part of the Project Life Seafoam digital kit. I had talked myself out of buying a core kit but when Seafoam was released last week I settled on the digital kit. I decided to go with the digital kit so I can print the cards that I like and will use. I typed my jounaling on the card in Photoshop and printed it out at home.
This white pen is awesome! It's like paint. Egg things are our go-to dinner. It's just eggs cooked on a tortilla with cheese. We top them with salsa and whatever else we have in the fridge. That's why we call them egg things, they are different every time.
And here's the right side. I made a small grid in Photoshop of some of my Camera Practice photos. We cooked at home both nights this weekend (normally we go out). Well, Billy cooked. He perfected his steak on the grill the weekend. Seriously, so good. I want to try and include more stuff about him in this year's albums. I also want to add in more simple digital details on my photos. Instead of covering part of the shrimp & steak photo with a label, I simply typed 'surf+turf' onto the photo before printing. Keeps it clean & interesting.
More digital details. I took a photo of my breakfast on Saturday morning and typed our typical Saturday morning routine on the inside rim of the bowl. Since our kitchen counter is also my crafting area, I used a sheet of 12x12" paper as the background of my photo.
On Saturday, I made a David's Tea run. I was running low on caffeine-free tea. This one I'm drinking in the photo is Sleigh Ride. It's a seasonal flavor so I bought 4oz of it...it's sooo good.
After that, we went to eat lunch at our very favorite place, Eat-A-Pita (I can't believe they have a website). It's a small restaurant across the street from our old apartment. I am not kidding when I tell you we would eat there 5-6 times a week. We miss that place so much. We moved before I started doing Project Life so I'm glad that we had a chance to go there so I can put in the 'life book.' (That's what Billy calls Project Life).
Below that is the top of my 'this week' card. I stuck these October Afternoon typewriter letter stickers onto a piece of ribbon from the Paper Source. On the rest of the card, I just wrote some more details about our week. I'm always surprised at how much there is to say about a boring, typical week.
Tip: I painted the end of the ribbon with clear nailpolish so it wouldn't fray.
And for fun, I included a sketch of how my spread came together this week. I print at home so I try to sketch out which photos I'll need before I print them out. I don't want to waste any paper or ink. Most of the time, I change a few things after I sketch it out but I've at least got a rough plan before I dive in. I also like to look at it as a whole so I can make sure I capture everything.
And that's a wrap on week 2. I am pretty much obsessed with Project Life.

Thank you! I did PL last year as well and figured out a system that works for me. I did get behind last year for a few weeks when things were busy over the summer. I like this project because I can get super involved (like I did with this week) or go super simple and just print out photos.

As much as I love looking at everyone's take on project life, I especially like newlyweds. :) It's fun to get ideas from other couples without kids on how they fill their albums. :)
I love the text wrapped around the bowl! Did you do that with photoshop or illustrator?

Thank you! It is fun (and challenging) to try come up with new things every week! Lately, Ive been taking a lot of pictures of our food! Haha. Our future children are going to think all we did is eat!
I used Photoshop to type the text around the bowl. A really old version, I think its CS2. I just made a circle a little smaller than the bowl in the photo and typed on the path. I then resized my text so it would fit all the way around. :)

That was great the way you typed inside the bowl rim. Terrific idea.

Beautiful pages! I love all the ideas for adding digital labels. Especially the circle about the saturday routine around the bowl! I've been debating on buying seafoam as well, and I'm leaning toward just buying the digital versions to pick and choose - it's kind of inspiring to see that option done so well. :) Great idea to make a folded card with washi tape!

Beautiful layouts. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your washi tape collection. The egg things look fascinating. I'm going to have to try those.

Great two-page spread. I really liked your idea for secret journaling. And I am going to have to try the egg things. Is that a flour tortilla or corn?

Nice pages, I enjoyed looking at your pages, it's nice to see how other people are doing it. I don't use any of the proper project life things but may just check out the digi edition now!!

Thank you! It is a corn tortilla. Flour tortillas tend to burn when Im making them.

I saw your blog on OLW and came over for a look. I love your idea for putting the not-so-fun stuff on the inside (Hello Real Life). That's a great idea. I want my Project Life to be real but didn't really care to be blatant or front and center about it, since the book is for my whole family including my little girls. Thanks so much for sharing that.

Thank you! Im glad you liked that. :)
