On October 10th, in Denver, Billy asked me to marry him! It happened when we went for a bike ride through Washington Park. This almost didn't happen because I ran a marathon the day before, and the last thing I wanted to do was exercise. But, I gave in because Washington Park was one of my favorite parts of the marathon course. We rode around the pond a couple of times, stopping along the way to take pictures. Little did I know, he was scoping out places to pop the question.
Billy pretended that he lost something near the water and we had to go back and look for it. Billy knew all along that he really didn't lose anything but thought it would be cute to make me fake look for something for several minutes. Once he was done messing around, and was sure that he had pulled this off, he pulled a ring out of his pocket, no box, just the ring. I will never forget his face. Billy's expression was a mix between, "omg, I can't believe this actually worked," and excitement. I was 100% surprised and we're both 200% excited. Obviously, I said yes. We called our families and friends to share the news. That night, we celebrated by eating Pho, drinking beer and sake and reliving the moment over and over.
