Only 24 more days until we can move into our new apartment in the South Loop. There's not much I can do decorating-wise until we actually get in there but I did buy a dresser from Salvation Army a couple weekends ago. The dresser is in pretty good shape, just a crack down the side which I am going to fill in with wood filler. It's also missing a knob but that's no big deal. I am planning on getting new, pretty knobs anyway. But, l probably (definitely) need to find some new, pretty knobs someplace other than Anthropologie. If I bought all 10 knobs there I'd be spending way more than the $40 I spent on the dresser, which totally defeats the purpose of this whole project. Anywho, I went to Home Depot last weekend to look at paint colors.
The bedspread we've been using has 5 colors; purple, pink, gray, orange and lime green. I ruled out pink and purple right away because I live with a boy and gray is boring (at least for this project it is). It was then between orange and lime green. We already have an orange couch and figured that it might be overkill to have an orange dresser too. Lime green it is. Seems simple enough except that there were about 15 shades of lime green to narrow down from there. I figured out that I wanted to use Behr paint for a few reasons:
1. I like their display...Obviously, see exhibit A above.
2. They had the most variety
3. Their colors were the brightest and when it comes to lime green paint I think the brighter the better.
Finally, it was decided that Grape Green was the winner. It matches the best (on the swatch anyway) and isn't shockingly bright. It is more vibrant than it looks in the photo above. I'm hoping this will be a fun project and that it turns out the way I'm hoping it does in my head. This weekend I will buy the paint along with the wood filler and some primer. I already bought a nice paintbrush the day I went looking at paint colors. I'll probably peek around for knobs too, although I was not impressed with Home Depot's selection.
