Week 3. I realized after posting my photos of week 2 that I take a lot of pictures of my food. Almost all the pictures last week were of our food! So my challenge to myself this week was to take pictures of things other than our meals. I ended up with just 3...progress.
Last week, I tried to focus on a color to pull all the random pieces together. This week, I chose green. I started out with this green polka dot paper from Freckled Fawn and this green tag from Elle's Studio. From there I just used items that I thought matched those 2 pieces.
Now that my stash is growing and I've started to figure out my style, these little challenges help me make better design decisions. It makes my pages more cohesive, compared to my 2012 album.
I'm such a nerd about calendars. I love them. I drew this calendar on a piece of white cardstock and colored it in with markers. I was planning on using this in my Week 1 spread but it just didn't work with the photos so I saved it for another week.
Another thing I'm focusing on this year is adding digital journaling to some of my photos. I snapped a picture of Soldier Field the other night and love it. I really didn't want to cover up any of the photo with a label, but wanted to add some context so I just typed a line in Photoshop. It keeps the focus on the photo.
I added a 5x7" insert this week.
The front holds a few Instagrams I took this week on my lunch break. It was...slow at work this week so I tried to do something fun & creative on my lunch breaks to keep me from becoming a grump. It worked.
On the back, I typed my 'Currently' text from this post. (Typo and all. I didn't notice that until I was editing these photos.)
And here's the right side, where the food pictures enter the spread. I trimmed down the packaging of some dark chocolate covered berries from Trader Joe's. They always have the best packaging. The TJ's receipt is held on with an arrow paperclip from Freckled Fawn. Love them.
And another spread of the full week with the insert flipped.
