* I've never had much luck with travel mugs so I bring a real mug with me on the L to work in the mornings or take it in the car when we drive. (The 'L' is the train)
A few weeks ago, Billy started a new job at his company. This new role requires him to go to the office M-F, 9 or so to 5 or so, instead of working from home. Prior to this, he was working from home during the day and then on-call at night. Prior to that, he was working from home, 4pm to midnight. Luckily, since he was working from home, we still had plenty of time to hang out with each other. It just wasn't always uninteruppted time. It was the way our life was and we got very used to being flexible with our plans.
So now, we are on the same work schedule...for the most part. It's been so nice. We have fallen into a new morning routine that includes both of us now. Before bed, Billy makes the coffee and puts out 2 mugs and 2 cereal bowls. In the morning, I have the difficult task of turning on the coffee. I wake up about 15-20 minutes before him since I like my quiet time before starting my day. I usually spend time on the computer reading blogs and checking email. Once he's up, we each get dressed, eat, pack lunches and, right now, bundle up before getting in the car to go to work.
Drinking coffee and going to work together makes me feel so married. In a good way. To be honest, we are usually running around like crazy people trying to find my other shoe, warming up my coffee, and making sure the hair straightener is unplugged. (By we, I mean me.) But I love this new routine we have. Who knows how long it will stay this way. He tends to switch roles a lot at his company. But for now, we're enjoying it.
